MyMedicare: Register with your regular GP team
A simple (and voluntary) way to link your care with Doy Street Medical Centre.
What is MyMedicare?
MyMedicare is Australia’s voluntary patient registration program that formalises your relationship with your usual general practice and GP team. It helps deliver better-coordinated care, especially if you have ongoing or complex health needs.
This supports the national “Strengthening Medicare” reforms and team-based primary care.
Benefits for you
Stronger continuity with your regular GP team
Better targeting of supports if you have chronic or complex conditions
Easier coordination and follow-up
You can change or withdraw any time
Who can register?
You’ll need a Medicare card or DVA Veteran Card.
Most people need two face-to-face visits at the same practice in the last 24 months (or one visit for remote practices).
Exemptions exist (e.g., people living in residential aged care homes).
Registration is voluntary for patients, practices and providers.
